20487 Lhotka (1999 NJ62)

I am honoured to share my name (see WGSBN Bull. 6, #11, 23) with asteroid 20487 Lhotka (1999 NJ62), discovered on 13 July 1999 by LINEAR at Socorro. The certificate for the naming of the asteroid, in recognition of my contribution to the study of minor bodies in the solar system, was announced during the 15th Asteroids, Comets, Meteors (ACM) Conference. My sincere gratitude goes to the colleague who conveyed this news, to those who proposed the nomination, and to the committee for granting this recognition. Stay tuned for follow-up news on this minor planet.
